Antique silver powder compact and mirror. This stunning antique solid silver compact with an integral mirror to the inside of the lid is so evocative of its era. It oozes class and style, a very luxurious item in its day. It has an engine-turned detail to both the back and front. With a blank cartouche for initials or a name to be engraved on the top, if you wish.
The internal mirror to the lid is in exceptional condition. It is marked “ made in England” around the side where it is also marked with a full English hallmark for Birmingham 1921. The maker’s mark is HCD. The hinge is good (but is not stiff enough for it to stay open on its own) and the lid closes firmly. There a couple of very slight indents to the top but, these are commensurate with its age, usage and purpose. Overall it is in very good condition for its age.
