Antique Stoneware Hot Water Bottle
Antique stoneware hot water bottle or footwarmer. A promotional advertising item for the opening of J & W Baker of Dunstable, Bedfordshire, England. The company was a furniture shop which opened in 1925 in Church St. Dunstable and this item would have been a promotional piece for the shop.
Of stoneware construction, it has a knob handle at one end and the original stopper which still has the rubber seal intact, so it may be still usable (however, due to its age we wouldn’t recommend use in a bed). It would make a great addition to the accessories for a vintage car enthusiast as a foot warmer, a gift for a local historian, or, it could be used as a doorstop in the home.
Dimensions: 10.5cms wide x 23cms long and 13cms high, including the stopper.
There is an impressed mark in the stoneware of 1 ½, which most likely is the suggested capacity of the bottle.
